Imagine a love affair between an adventurous artist and a wealthy industrialist. She hitches a ride on a Swedish East India Company ship to China, and he sits in his study wondering why he let her go. She visits exotic lands and cultures and collects all kinds of weird and wonderful art, crafts and specimens. She battles great storms and drinks with the saltiest of sailors. She tells tall tales to anyone who’ll listen and though she has the greatest adventure of her life she misses her husband. He meanwhile is missing her too. He starts making plans to keep her by his side. He builds the most amazing water garden, with tropical plants, waterfalls and sculpture. Surely if she has this, she won’t feel the need to leave again.

This garden is now Oceana, a waterpark of 10,000 square meters with epic waterslides, wave pool, lazy river and restaurant. 

 

We provided concept design, planning illustrations, 3D visualisation, detail design and on-site art direction. Working as part of an amazing team including Liseberg, Wingårdhs, Universal Rocks, Preopening, Konceptbygg and others we almost celebrated a successful opening. However, in February 2024 tragedy struck. A terrible fire broke out and sadly a colleague and friend lost his life, leaving behind his wife and young family.

The response of the team was incredible. The support offered to staff and the families of those affected, the briefings to the press, the sharing of information with the industry, all a credit to the team at Liseberg.
